My name is Tracey Bautovich and I am married to the love of my life Tony and have a beautiful 5 year old daughter Monique Kate.
Being chronically ill all my life with severe asthma and being steroid dependant, I was diagnosed over 2 years ago with Cushings Syndrome and after having nearly died from asthma attacks nearly half a dozen times I was suddenly facing my own mortality as well as dealing with many other health issues like multiple fractured ribs and gaining over 70 kilo’s in weight.
Through all this I made the hard decision to make all the practical arrangements for my funeral if I should die. So Tony would not have to deal with the trauma of those type of decisions. It was at this time I realised if I died that Monique would grow up and know nothing about who I was as a person or what my life was like growing up. These are the things I want her to know and in my own words and experiences.
Shortly after making all the appropriate arrangements an extremely close friend of mine who I met and befriended in hospital died suddenly of cancer 2 days before I was going to see her. Tony drove me up to Queensland to say my goodbyes anyway and I ended up hiring a beautiful little timber chalet in a magical spiritual place called Bunya Mountains for the night to stay on my own to say goodbye to her in my own way. So with a bottle of champagne, snuggled in a rug, candles burning, and sitting out on the veranda at 2 am in the morning saying goodbye to my friend “Over the Rainbow” was born my parent to child journal. The words and questions came out onto my tiny notepad as page after page they filled up. It was incredible and sometimes felt as if it were not even my own hands writing it. I know that night it was not just me that wrote this book God and my Angels were there guiding me and have been with me every step of the way since with this book and the others having a life force of their own. From how it was born to being published which would never have happened without the love, belief and support of my grandmother “Nandy” who I can thank for my dream of this book becoming a reality when it did.
I am grateful to say that this book has already given great joy to many families and treasured memories to hold on to for a lifetime. I have been blessed enough that my other two books “Calling All Angels” a child to parent journal and “Journey of Two Hearts” my partner journal have been published and will be available for sale from June 2009. Through local businesses like Rotary club of Narellan and 24 hr Fight against Cancer. we have been able to donate 1000 copies of each of my books to Campbelltown/Camden hospitals who are giving a copy of the book to patients who are terminally or chronically ill and can get the chance to leave a piece of themselves for their loved ones.
Although I am still chronically ill and battling many health problems I was generously given 12 month supply free of a trial drug Xolair which costs $3000 per month. This is the final month of the treatment and it will stop but I was grateful I had a year with very few admissions to hospital. The future as with all of us is unknown for me but I am blessed with an amazing husband and daughter and surrounded by a bunch of Earth Angels who have become family and love and stand by me no matter how long, hard or rocky the road gets and to them I am eternally grateful . These books are a treasured gift and I hope that when you buy them you enjoy filling them out as much as I did and that they fill your and your families lives.
